About The Author

Khalilah H. Purnell is an author, filmmaker, speaker, and advocate whose work is rooted in truth, empowerment, and community impact. With over 18 published titles spanning poetry, children’s literature, and empowerment journals, she uses her voice and her pen to inspire transformation across generations.

She is the founder of KayP Unscripted Productions, where she brings powerful, socially conscious stories to the screen, including her groundbreaking debut film The Silent Crisis. She also established Join The Cry Press, her publishing imprint that amplifies diverse voices and creates space for truth-driven storytelling.

Khalilah’s heart for service led her to launch her upcoming annual Women Empowerment Brunches which are slated to begin in early 2026 (and held annually in different cities and states), "Healing in Our Heels", with different themes.

Looking ahead, Khalilah is expanding her vision into the world of beauty and wellness with two upcoming brands: Ischyo by Kay (vegan haircare) and Bāla by Kay (vegan skincare), set to launch in 2026. Both lines are designed to honor confidence, self-care, and holistic wellness for melanin-rich and sensitive skin. She is also the proud owner of Asonte' Monique Candle Company (named after her child who loves candles, when thinking about a legacy to leave her, it made since to do it behind something she loves).

At the center of her work is a movement: NOVA (New Order, Vast Awakening) — a rallying call for a new generation to rise, challenge injustice, and embrace liberation.

For Khalilah, creativity is more than art — it is advocacy, healing, and a call to action.
